COVID-19 Impact on Shelter Services
Important Notice Regarding Shelter Hours.
The Tri-City Animal Shelter lobby will reopen to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12:00PM - 4:00PM beginning Wednesday, March 31st. The reopening is for the following:
- Pet Licensing
- Intaking found dogs
- Intaking sick and injured cats
- Dog adoptions by appointment
- Returning animals to their owner
In order to maintain social distancing in the shelter, the area where the animals are housed will continue to be closed to the public. If you have lost your pet, please continue to visit the shelter website https://tricityanimalshelter.org/Found
Licensing can be completed online or by mail. For more information please visit www.tricityanimalshelter.org/license
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please visit the shelter’s website for the new appointment-based adoption process. https://www.tricityanimalshelter.org/Adopt
The shelter will continue to schedule appointments for other essential services on days the lobby is closed including: redeeming a lost pet, surrendering your pet and intaking found animals. Adoptable cats are currently being transferred to adoption partners, also known as rescue groups. The shelter will begin cat adoptions in the late spring or early summer.
The City of Fremont is aware that the reduction of hours at the Tri-City Animal Shelter will disrupt normal adoption and pet redemption services. We are committed to ensuring that lost pets are quickly reunited with their families, and that homeless animals continue to have the opportunity for adoption when we reopen. We are managing our animal population closely. Fortunately, the animal population is low right now and we have the space to accommodate this plan.
This is a good time to remind you to have an emergency plan for your pet(s). Please make sure you pet’s microchip is updated and/or that your pet is wearing an identification tag at all times.
